6 powerful ways to make your life more beautiful

AWR Make YOU first love

The universe whispers in my ear so softly that I sometimes have a hard time deciphering its message. When that happens, I feel lost and confused – as I imagine my Mom must have felt living with Alzheimer disease.

Sometimes the universe’s message is crystal clear as it was on the day I rediscovered a birthday card my mom had given me before the dementia.

I was surprised when she gave me the card, because the depth of the sentiments in the verse weren’t her usual style. Perhaps that’s why they touched me so deeply when I first read them.

They reminded me that life isn’t measured in days and years, though our obsession with calendars and agendas may seem like that’s so. It’s what you do with time and with all the goodness and grace that’s inside you that is the measure of a life will lived.
Life is hard; it is also breathtaking.

Make your life beautiful. The kind you deserve. The kind you were meant to have. The kind that is within your reach every minute of every day, no matter what goes on around you. Your beautiful life lies within you. Make it yours.

A little gift from me to you and me to me <3

1) Make YOU your first love

I know, I know, this can be a tough one, especially since we are all imperfect, and we are often taught that we should strive to be flawless. The fact is, perfection, like fitting in, is vastly overrated.

Remember the story of the cracked pot? Love yourself because of your imperfections, not despite them. Make peace with who you are and where you are today, don’t wait for who you will be once you “fix” yourself.

2) Make your mind follow your heart

AWR Follow your heartSometimes we spend too much time listening to our thoughts, monitoring our mind, and getting caught up in all the chaos that goes on in there. Our heart is a different place. It houses our intuition and feelings, our deepest desires, fears, hopes, and dreams.

Tapping into all of that can be extraordinarily empowering. Break your heart open, and make the most of what you find there: joys and sorrows.

3) Make time for yourself

If you can’t hear what your heart is saying in the midst of our noisy world, take some timeouts for yourself.  Enjoy your own company. Let your mind wander among the stars. There are countless ways to make the most of solitude and to explore what you have to offer yourself. If you need inspiration, watch this wonderful piece of musical poetry on how to be alone.

4) Make mistakes

Try. Take chances. God knows, life can be messy and confusing, but it’s also full of delightful surprises. The next rock in your path might be a stepping-stone to something bigger and better, or smaller and sexier! You’ll never know unless you try. Plus, there are far more learning opportunities in failure than there are in success. So the more you fail, the wiser you will become. Open the door to possibility.

5) Make do

Be happy with what you have. There will always be some who have more and some who have less than you do. Look around, count your blessings. Feel the joy of life, don’t dwell on what you don’t have, what you might have, what you could have, if only… When you don’t have what you want, want what you have. That’s a well-kept secret of contentment.

6) Make your own way

Amelia Earhart more than passengerYou are the captain of your own destiny. You alone make the choices and decisions about how to move forward in this life. There aren’t any shortcuts to tomorrow, you have to go through today to get there. The journey is yours to create.

Knowing where you’re going is part of it, so is knowing where you’ve been. If you sometimes feel like you are wandering and lost, don’t worry, we all wander around lost from time to time. Sometimes we even feel invisible.

The people who love you will find you.

You will find yourself.

Count on it.
