a lover’s lament

I once had a lover who insisted on keeping me waiting. This poem is about that.

a lover’s lament
a lover’s lament

i count the days
we spend apart
the sleeps before
my heart restarts

clocks tick tock
the hours and minutes
push my patience
to the limit

my body aches,
is full of longing,
i dream of kissing
close and fondling

the bits of you
i miss the most
on which I’d rather
overdose!
