a farmer’s 7-step guide to knowing all is well with the world

I’m not sure if it’s a talent or a curse, but I see patterns and wisdom in just about everything. Take the somewhat unusual video below by Mississippi Mills farmer Arlee Sheets. When I watched it, I couldn’t help but think how similar it is to the kinds of steps we take during periods of self reflection and discovery. Like the process for finding dung beetles, the process for finding signs of life and health within often involves cutting through piles of shit LOL!

a farmer’s 7-step guide to knowing all is well with the world

1) wake up early

2) go out to the field

3) unsheath a sharp knife

4) get on your hands & knees

5) dig into a three-day old cow pie

6) explore for dung beetles and the like

7) when you find life, know that all is good
