thank you for being here with me
This poem is for the people who love me, see me, support me, stick with me no matter what, and who are relentless in not allowing me to give up.

thank you
for seeing me
for hearing me
for knowing what
needs to be said
when I open
my heart and self,
when I need
someone to listen,
really listen,
to not talk
about the cause
but rather take care
of the effect
thank you
for honouring
the me that’s me
and for confirming
that one day, some day,
i will be okay again
because of who I am;
and because of who I am
being okay again
one day, some day,
may take time,
maybe even a very long time
before the transformation
and the restoration
are complete
i can live with that
i must live with that
because nothing stays the same
and i’m grateful you are here
to help me learn, heal,
and become whole
once more
