Feelings, Life, Poetry, Spirituality

arrowhead

Sometimes we are betrayed in ways that dismantle the very foundation of our beliefs. Our core is disassembled; we experience our selves in pieces instead of whole (as we once were and how we will be again one day). The depth and breadth of such betrayal is beyond measure. It is forged in evil and may only be healed by grace.

This poem is about that.

arrowhead

i have been betrayed,

and now
my beliefs lie
dead underfoot
like autumn leaves
ankle deep on the soft
forest floor of the cathedral
where tall branches still stretch,
reaching into the bluest of skies
scratching an occasional cloud
in the hope of finding heaven
but never quite getting there
never quite knowing how
to open the gates of the
sacred places where
gods abide above
as they do below

where peace is

& love gives
solace to
healing
souls
