Just for fun, Motorcycles, Poetry

on wrenching. or not :P

Many motorcyclists like to maintain their own bikes instead of having mechanics do the dirty work.

I’m not one of them. Nor will I ever be.

I understand (kinda’) why people would want to tinker with their machines. Or rebuild them. Or even build them from scratch. More power to them. Riders who want to wrench on their rides fill me admiration. But not envy. I would much rather have a skilled and trustworthy mechanic take care of all the fine tuning and fixing that’s required to keep my rides running safely, reliably and happily. To each their own.

This poem is about that.

on wrenching

Read here:
on wrenching

nuts and bolts
and chains and shafts
are things that
really make me daft

levers, clutches,
brakes and pads?
talk of them
is just as bad

pistons, pumps,
tanks and tires,
oh no, oh please
i might expire

and as for stuff
like oil changes
i’d rather hike
through mountain ranges

if you love to
wrench and screw
go right ahead
and good for you

since my mechanic
knows what’s best
he can work
while i just rest

then, when i want,
i’ll turn the key
un-kill the switch
and ride – yippee!
