a lover’s lament

I once had a lover who insisted on keeping me waiting. This poem is about that.
a lover’s lament
a lover’s lament

i count the days
we spend a/part
the sleeps before
my heart restarts

clocks tick tock
the hours and minutes
push my patience
to the limit

my body aches,
is full of longing,
i dream of kissing
close and fondling

the bits of you
i miss the most
on which I’d rather
overdose!
