Humour, Just for fun, Motorcycles, Poetry

quiet time?

“Do you ever stop thinking and planning?” A fellow volunteer recently emailed me in response to a proposal I had sent her.

“Stop? Um. No. LOL :P” I chuckled to myself as I typed out my reply.

I can’t help but be constantly full of new ideas. I have a hamster for a brain.

Disappointingly, I’m not  nearly as brilliant on execution as I am on imagination and I wish I had an army of people to help make everything I dream up become a reality. But better to have tonnes of ideas and no one to execute them than no ideas whatsoever and a whole whack of ‘executioners’ standing around twiddling their thumbs.

Or is it? #rhetoricalquestion 😛

And, the fact of the matter is (at least in my experience), the naysayers outnumber the supporters of novel ideas. by several orders of magnitude.

This poem is about having a mind that almost never stops and the space where it always finds peace.

quiet time

Read here:

my brain is wired
it never stops
the gears they grind
then spin like tops

two simple questions
are soon ninety-six
they criss and cross
like pick up sticks

ideas flow
in constant streams
wave and beckon
interrupt my dreams

i’ve got schemes and plans
in piles and heaps
to sort and file
while i try to sleep

the frantic pace
makes it tough to slumber
‘coz the things i think
are just too great in number

the only time
my mind is quiet like
is when i ride
my motorbike
